Snow Day

Last week was our 2nd Wedding anniversary. We celebrated by driving up to the snow.

Heading up the Angeles Crest Highway, it took us about a half hour for us to feel like we were in a Winter Wonderland. One of the things we love about LA is how many awesome places you can get to in less than an hour.
We took an awesome hike. Daisy loved the snow.

Actually, I'm not sure Daisy even realized she was walking on snow. She was just happy to be outside.

The entire hike was so scenic.
We came upon this phonebooth, buried in the snow.

Newcomb's Ranch is exactly 26 miles up from Foothill Blvd. We stopped there for lunch. They have great food, and Craftsman beer on tap. Usually we sit outside, but the patio was covered with snow.

It was a wonderful day, and I bet we didn't even spend 20 bucks. We even built a snowman! (or is that a snow-woman?)

Little man. Big heart. Bad clothes.

Dial 'N' For Nice Try

This months Vanity Fair features photos recreating scenes from classic Hitchcock movies using contemporary actors and actresses. Here's what Dial 'M' For Murder might look like if Charlize Theron starred in it.

Here is Scarlett Johansen and Javier Bardem in Rear Window. It's not as taboo as remaking Rear Window with Chrostopher Reeves, but it still seems like a bad idea.

Putting Renee Zellweger and Vertigo in the same sentence is like putting mayonnaise on my ice cream.

However, Seth Rogan in North By Northwest is inspired.

If you wish To Catch A Thief starred Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, then I encourage you to check out the rest of the magazine. For a better time, I encourage you to stay home and watch the original.

Dog 'Do

It's hard to tell, because our puppy is too dark to photograph, but Daisy got a haircut this week.

We had her trimmed way down, and left her with a Mohawk (or faux-hawk) on top. The groomer was ecstatic to give Daisy a punk 'do, and did a great job. We never realized how skinny Daisy was until we saw her all-clean-shaven. Maybe we don't feed her enough. The bow in her hair has disappeared, and it's a distinct possibility that she ate it.

Don't throw that sticker away!

Our favorite LA blog, LAist is having a Super Tuesday party...and we're all invited!
The party takes place at Seven Grand in Downtown LA. Here's the deal: the first 75 people to arrive with their "I Voted" sticker will get a free drink! LAist says, "All of the TVs will be showing election returns, so come out and join other hip politically conscious Angeleno's to cheer on your politcal candidate, talk propositions or just drink."

When: Super Tuesday, February 5th
Time: 7-9 p.m.
Where: Seven Grand in downtown LA.

Sounds like a plan! I'll be there...

BTW...if you didn't already know this, Heath is a contributing writer for LAist. Read all his posts about the Writers Strike here.
