Sophie - Week 5

Because you demanded it... more photos of Sophie. She will be 6 weeks old on Tuesday, and time is just flying by. Sophie is more alert every day. She makes some serious eye contact, and tries to smile a lot. (though it often comes off like more of a condescending smirk) We've introduced more activities into her routine. Now, instead of just eating, pooping and sleeping, she is also bathing, getting her nails clipped, and going with mommy and daddy to Mexican restaurants so they can have one beer. One sweet, sweet beer.

Here are some newer photos of Sophie. She spends most of her time sleeping, nursing, pooping, crying and looking adorable. The last few days she's become much more alert, and has added "making eye-contact" to her list of hobbies. Here she's wondering who the cute girl in the mirror is.

We've learned that there are several stages of sleep. Deep sleep:

Really deep sleep.

Really, really deep sleep.

At least someone's getting sleep.

Breaking News: Baby Born!!!

We are so excited to announce that yesterday, Tuesday, August 12th 2008 at 4:53 pm, Sophie Claire Seifert was born! She weighed 8lbs 4.4 oz, and was 19 inches long.

According to the doctors, she is "perfect." Sure, they were only talking about her body temperature, but we think that complete and total perfection were implied. Sophie has crazy black hair, her mother's lips, and daddy's "mellow" disposition. She isn't even a day old and she's already at a 4 day old reading level! We will be teaching her to play bass when she gets home from the hospital later this week.

Mother, Father and baby are resting at the Good Samaritan hospital downtown, and are doing excellent.

Bacon - Clothing Edition

Whenever I watch one of those show like Dateline or 48 hours, I always notice how they have to sum up the murder victims entire lives in one or two sentences. Some poor gal, who was probably very three dimensional always becomes something like "a single mom with a passion for collecting garden gnomes."

It makes me think how I would be described on television if something horrible ever happened to me. Would I be a "creative, generous, loving family man?" Or would I be "an immature rock and roller with an unhealthy bacon obsession?"

At the risk of overstating my passion for bacon, I give you these bacon-related clothing photos:

happy birthday, daisy!

Daisy turned 1 year old on July 30th. I took her to Petco and she picked out some doggy toys. We went for a nice hike, and she got to chew on a new bone. All in all, I think it was a good day for her! Happy Birthday, Doodle-Daisy!
